- Emphasis on Pure and Excellent Bloodlines:
- Purebred dogs are those with relatively stable and homogeneous genetics, resulting from mating within the same breed and type of dogs, generation after generation (purebred breeding). According to regulations from international kennel clubs, a purebred Pomeranian should exhibit minimal changes in characteristics through successive generations. To confirm this status, purebred Pomeranians are often provided with pedigree certificates. When purchasing imported Pomeranian puppies, it is crucial to request and verify the pedigree certificate. In the absence of a unified system in China, where such certificates may be unavailable, it becomes important to thoroughly investigate the quality of the puppy’s parents and ancestors, analyzing the lineage to assess the puppy’s merits.
- Appearance Features of Pomeranian Puppies:
- A. Choose Pomeranians with a round head and a short, compact body.
- B. Select those with soft, erect, and fluffy back fur.
- C. Opt for Pomeranians with eyes and nose forming an equilateral triangle, creating an attractive facial structure.
- D. Look for puppies with high shoulder blades, well-developed chests, straight front and hind legs, and no dislocations.
- E. The tail can be curled or straight, but it should originate high, close to the back, and rest neatly on the back.
- F. Consider Pomeranians with a sturdy build, giving a sense of weight when lifted.
- Consideration of Reputable and Specialized Kennels:
- a. The muzzle of a small Pomeranian should be flat, resembling a duck’s bill, as this shape develops into an attractive feature as the puppy grows (applicable to Pomeranians at around two months old, as the mouth shape tends to change after three months).
- b. Avoid Pomeranians with excessively large or protruding eyes; opt for almond-shaped eyes with a close distance between them.
- c. Choose Pomeranians with small and black noses, where the nose and the forehead exhibit depth for enhanced beauty as they grow.
- d. Prefer Pomeranians with small ears, appropriately positioned without excessive spacing.
