Feeding Methods for Samoyeds:
The development of Samoyed puppies is characterized by uneven growth in different parts of their bodies during various stages. In the first three months after birth, there is a primary focus on body growth and weight gain. From the fourth to the sixth month, the emphasis shifts to lengthening the body, and after seven months, the main focus is on increasing height. This requires adjusting the type and quantity of nutrients in their diet according to different developmental stages. From the time the puppy separates from the mother and enters independent living, feeding should be done on a regular schedule.
In general, if there is leftover food in the bowl after feeding the puppy, it indicates that the amount of food given is excessive. Conversely, if the puppy continues to lick the bowl or looks at the owner after eating, it suggests that the food provided is insufficient. Note: The food given to puppies must be of high quality, fresh, prepared separately, and served immediately (excluding commercial food). It should be hygienic to prevent gastrointestinal diseases. Puppy owners should personally feed the dog, ensuring a fixed schedule, quantity, and location. No food should be given outside of feeding times to prevent the puppy from developing bad habits. Careful observation of the puppy’s eating behavior is essential, especially when raising multiple puppies, to prevent a few puppies from dominating the food and causing uneven feeding.
As puppies have weaker digestive functions, initially, it is advisable to provide softer foods, and avoid feeding them hard or excessively cold foods to prevent interference with the puppy’s development.
